Derechos Humanos

En su día escribí acerca del Yihadismo entrelazándolo con el Show de Truman, siendo en realidad una crítica de la mercantilización de los medios de comunicación de masas y los discursos del terrorismo. 

Sin embargo, lo que en 2019 parecía una sátira, ahora es una pesadilla, porque ya no sólo se ha mercantilizado en estos, sino también en los propios discursos y actos de nuestros políticos. 

El terrorismo, tan actual en nuestra época, es lo que ha permitido poder justificar una guerra o genocidio en varios países, sin tener que dar explicaciones sobre el asalto que eso supone a los Derechos Humanos Universales o sobre lo inhumano que parece que al final podamos seguir viviendo, sabiendo que al otro lado del mundo miles de personas, que tenían vidas parecidas a las nuestras, estén muriendo por cuestiones de religión y geopolíticas.

Si bien es cierto, que desde mi cómodo portátil no puedo hacer nada, si realmente me están leyendo desde Israel, espero que este mensaje llegue lejos, porque no se puede permitir que este país esté permitiendo el asesinato de miles de ciudadanos de otro Estado (y sí, yo también lo reconozco junto a mi país como tal).

El terrorismo no es justificable desde ninguna perspectiva, pero sí se debe entender que nace en sistemas de violencia sostenida y de sometimiento continuo. Cuando prohíbes a las personas crecer en un entorno libre y lleno de amor, se agarran a cualquier discurso o acción que le prometa una libertad, y aunque ésta sea cruenta, se prefiere, a seguir viendo cómo tu entorno se destruye bajo una guerra que siquiera tú la elegiste. No es la mejor decisión, ni mucho menos, ya que cualquier reacción paramilitar o terrorista está ligada al mismo ataque que te quita la libertad, pero la violencia suele conllevar más violencia. 

La duda que sigue en mi cabeza es si tras tantos libros de historia, literarios e historias de arte, no aprendimos absolutamente nada respecto a lo doloroso que fueron las guerra y lo poco efectivas que resultaron. Y si al final, el ser humano por naturaleza se ciega por la ambición y por la necesidad de un poder y de una validación externa, que, a veces puede ser un monstruo enorme e imparable. 

Los discursos son diferentes en cada país, pero esto no es nuevo, ni tan poco aislado... África, Oriente Medio, Asia, América... Cada día se suman más estados a estas guerras, algunas contadas en medios de comunicación de masas, otras invisibles a nuestro conocimiento, porque no interesa, y en casi todas participamos de manera indirecta en la venta armamentística.  

Quizás es cierto que soy una hippie, pero mientras sigan muriendo inocentes por injusticias seguiré luchando, incluso aunque algunos otros derechos no sean compartidos junto a los que lucho. Hay veces que incluso en las diferencias, necesitas unirte, porque solo en la libertad se puede conseguir una educación en valores y una escucha activa y participativa. 

Si se quieren ganar derechos se tienen que luchar, pero no a través de una violencia sostenida, pues la lucha se tiene que seguir manteniendo, pero con cabeza fría, pues la inteligencia va siempre por delante. 

Y la inteligencia es amor en todos sus aspectos.

In the past, I wrote about Jihadism, intertwining it with The Truman Show, as a critique of the commercialization of mass media and terrorism narratives.

However, what seemed like satire in 2019 has now turned into a nightmare. Not only have these been commercialized, but so have the very discourses and actions of our politicians.

Terrorism, so prevalent in our time, has justified wars or genocides in several countries without needing to explain the assault on Universal Human Rights or the inhumanity of continuing to live our lives knowing that, on the other side of the world, thousands of people with lives similar to ours are dying due to religious and geopolitical issues.

Although it’s true that from my comfortable laptop I can do nothing, if you are really reading this from Israel, I hope this message reaches far, because it cannot be allowed for this country to permit the killing of thousands of citizens from another state (which I also recognize as such, along with my own country).

Terrorism is not justifiable from any perspective, but it must be understood that it arises from systems of sustained violence and continuous subjugation. When you prevent people from growing up in a free and loving environment, they cling to any discourse or action that promises freedom, even if it is brutal. It is preferred to continue seeing their surroundings destroyed by a war they did not choose. It is not the best decision, far from it, as any paramilitary or terrorist reaction is tied to the same attack that takes away freedom, but violence often begets more violence.

The question that remains in my mind is whether, after so many history books, literary works, and art histories, we have learned absolutely nothing about the pain of wars and their ineffectiveness. And if, in the end, human nature is blinded by ambition and the need for power and external validation, which sometimes can be an enormous and unstoppable monster.

The narratives vary in each country, but this is neither new nor isolated... Africa, the Middle East, Asia, America... More states join these wars every day, some covered by mass media, others invisible to our knowledge because it is not of interest, and in almost all, we participate indirectly through arms sales.

Perhaps it is true that I am a hippie, but as long as innocents keep dying from injustices, I will keep fighting, even if some other rights are not shared along with those I fight for. Sometimes, even in differences, you need to unite, because only in freedom can we achieve education in values and active and participatory listening.

If rights are to be won, they must be fought for, but not through sustained violence. The struggle must continue, but with a cool head, as intelligence always prevails.

And intelligence is love in all its aspects.
